At Rainbow Fertility, we are dedicated to providing exceptional support and care to our patients. We understand the unique challenges faced by individuals undergoing fertility treatment, especially when dealing with cancer or genetic conditions. That’s why we’re thrilled to share that the Australian Government is offering an Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Storage Funding Program to assist patients facing extra costs for fertility treatment due to cancer or genetic conditions.

Who is eligible?

This program is designed to help with the cost of fertility preservation for eligible patients who:

  • have cancer
  • are at risk of passing on a genetic condition and have had pre-implantation genetic testing through Medicare.

What does the ART Storage Funding Program include?

This program aims to alleviate out-of-pocket expenses for eligible cryostorage services. This funding helps cover the cost of freezing eggs, sperm, and embryos (cryostorage) for up to 10 years. The current funding amount is approximately $600 per year for each type of material (eggs, sperm, or embryos), with patients able to access funding for up to two types of material for the full 10-year period.

It does not intend to influence current clinical practice. Our fertility specialists will decide on a patient’s options for fertility treatment based on an individual assessment.
